|From June 21 to June 24, Fort Morgan, Colorado will be alive with the sights, sounds and history of its favorite son, big band leader Glenn Miller. This event is designed to provide scholarships to The School for the Performing Arts in Fort Morgan, so that no child is precluded from gaining an appreciation of the performing arts because of lack of funding. More information on The School for the Performing Arts can be found at their website.|
From a community concert in the park on Thursday evening June 21, to a final brunch with Glenn Miller history presentation on Sunday, June 24, the event includes events for all ages and interests. Friday night, June 22, features a 1940s Bob Hope Road dinner show featuring the talent of Lynn Roberts with Chuck Carson. After dinner you can dance to the tunes of Company B and compete in a dance contest for the “Golden Trombone” award.
Early risers on Saturday June 23 can join us at the Fort Morgan Airport for a Fly-In and a breakfast by the Fort Morgan Lions Club. Then return to town for a day of activities in the city park which includes music, vendor booths, historic tours and tours of the Fort Morgan Museum and U. S. Historical Military Museum.
Two of our local restaurants have signed up as “featured restaurants” and will have small combos for your dining pleasure on Saturday night, before you head off to dance the night away to The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra.
Sunday morning, June 24 you can close out the SwingFest by doing a 5K walk run known as the Little Brown Jug race through Riverside Park and its nature trail and finish up with a brunch at the U. S. History Military Museum featuring a presentation on Glenn Miller.
Tickets are priced from $20 to $45 and available online or by calling 970-768-6106.
